Fall Open House

Japan House presents KENDO: The Way of the Sword.
Demonstrations of this traditional Japanese martial art will be conducted by Mr. Hajima Sugawara, 6th Dan (6th Degree Black Belt), and Mr. Masahiro Imafuji, 5th Dan (5th Degree Black Belt), from the Central Indiana Kendo Club, at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
Tour and enjoy the gardens with James Bier, designer, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Take part in tea ceremonies performed by the Urbana-Champaign Association of Chado Urasenke Tankokai from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Tsukimi: Moon Viewing at Japan House

Experience the ritual of moon viewing, a festival with its roots in the Shinto religion. Take part in the tea ceremony and watch the moon rise.
RSVP required for tea ceremony. Held rain or shine.

House Tours Fall 2009
Tours of Japan House are available every Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the third Saturday of the month from 1:00 to 5:00.

Tea Ceremonies
Tea ceremonies will be held on the following days at 2:00pm and 3:00pm. A reservation is required for all tea ceremonies. The cost is $5 per person. Call or email for more information.
