kimono resource center
Although the popularity of the kimono has diminished in Japan due to the convenience of western clothing, schools, such as Hakubi Kyoto Kimono Schools in Tokyo, Japan, have embraced and recognized the strong tradition that the kimono embodies.Hakubi Kyoto Kimono Schools provide instruction of kimono wearing, kimono self-dressing dances, formal sash tying, paper arts, traditional braiding, and much more in hopes to continue this culturally rich tradition for generations to come. This spirit and desire to preserve such a rich cultural heritage encouraged the beginning of a strong relationship between the University of Illinois Japan House and Hakubi Kyoto Kimono Schools.
